When Nick reluctantly accepts the temporary transfer to the Scenic View Fire Department he doesn’t plan on playing Santa Claus for the kiddie Christmas party. Sticking around town for the special assignment will give him a chance to get to know lonely, local sweetheart Lily and find out why she wants nothing to do with him.
Lily is a lifelong fixture in Scenic View, sick of living hand-to-mouth in a place where everyone’s nose is in her personal business. Just when she’s ready to move out of town, she meets the gorgeous newcomer, and it’s lust at first sight. The only thing is she doesn’t date firemen, which is too bad, because charming Nick seems like a real keeper. With a little Christmas magic and help from the Santa suit, will Nick find a way into Lily’s heart and change her mind?
The story takes place in Long Island and since I live in New York, I had a good reference point. The book is fast-paced, easy to read and when I put it down, I found myself thinking about what was going to happen next and how these two love birds were going to get together. The dialogue is funny, witty and realistic. I actually love that Lily and Nick are such flawed characters; it makes them real, and relatable. Nobody is perfect in the story and it made me want their happy ever after even more.
One thing…can someone please get Lily something to wear besides a velour track suit? I want to give the girl a makeover!
Okay..the nitty gritty…there is some heat between these two but I wanted more. I wanted her “honey pot” and his “love gun” to get some more action. Come on Nick, we know you’re sexy…shed that Santa suit and knock her socks off!
Bottom line…don’t wait for Santa to put it in your stocking. This charming read is fun and festive!
